Sharing of the trip during LM
0 comments

Hello people! On 17th Oct, we did a presentation and sharing about the trip during our NYP Life Meeting. Cheryl and Shuqi helped to do the powerpoint slides and I shared a testimony. (And I totally don't know why they choose me...) Thank God everything went well and we enjoyed ourselves. I didn't know LM could be so fun. Below is the testimony I shared and thought I could share with you guys too. It's not very "woah" too... Hee... But I'm sharing from my heart k... And it's kinda long.. ;P

My Testimony (here it goes...)
This is my third mission trip but my first trip with Campus Crusade. Each trip, God reveals himself differently but personally to me. In this trip, He taught me that He is my Jehovah Jireh and He is the Faithful One.

When I first knew that there was this medical mission, I’m very excited about it as I’m studying Occupational Therapy and would like to know how I can play my part in the mission field through this trip. But there were certain things that prevented me from signing up immediately. So I began to pray and ask if it is indeed His will, then He will provide a way for me to go with a heart of peace.

As I pray, God began to work in ways that I never expect. He removed all the obstacles before me and gave me a heart of peace. He provided a way for me. He also provided for my fund raising when I thought that it would be quite hard to raise $850 in such a short time. But God is faithful. He provided me with abundance that I even had to reject some offers.

Lastly, He also provided me with a great team of friends, as this is a campus trip, some of us came on this trip without knowing anyone and as the preparation was very rush and we only met each other for 2 days, we hardly knew or spend enough time with each other. But somehow, God just opened a way for us in our friendship and we were able to talk and joke with each other. It seems like we already know each other. He just provided us with all our needs.

In Cambodia, he provided us with nice places to stay in, safety and protection, friendly host, food… everything that we need, God provides. He who clothes the lilies in the field and feeds the birds in the air, how will He not provide our needs?

As in all mission trips, there are bound to be obstacles that we face. One obstacle that my team faced was the changes in the schedule. When I say changes, I mean BIG changes. Our schedule was totally disrupted and many activities were cancelled last minute. We were supposed to set up a carnival for the High School students but we had to cancel it as they were having their school holidays. We also cancelled our giving out of gospel track. Many things were not in our control. It was quite a disappointment for some of us but we knew that God is still ultimately in control of everything. So we spent most of our time in the orphanage and going on culture orientation. But I guess our time spent in the orphanage is not wasted too as we managed to build relationships with the children and share God’s love with them.

I also faced some obstacles myself. It was the day when we first visited the orphanage and had to carry out the activities that we planned for them. I was in charged of teaching them to do art and crafts. I chose to do mask with them but I was very worried. While preparing for the things, many questions ran through my mind – ‘What are you going to say to the children?’, ‘Will the children like it?’, ‘What if they show no interest in doing the mask?’ and many other negative thoughts. So I began to pray and ask God to take total control and give me the confidence that comes from Him. And God answered my prayers. The children like doing the mask and wear them even after we have finished the session. I really thank God for that.

Mission trip is really about flexibility and availing yourself to God. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and stepping into the world that God cares for and died for. It’s not just about you being a blessing to the people, it is also about you experiencing God himself and learning lessons about Him that you might not get to learn if you remain in your comfort zone. God came down to earth, forsaking His comfort zone to die for His people. We as children of God are also called to go into the world and make disciples of all nations, bringing them the hope of salvation. So I encourage all of you to really start praying about going on a mission trip for the next wave and to see God’s heart for His people. No one is too inadequate to do it; it’s all about a heart that wants to serve God. What’s more, you get to know more brothers and sisters in Christ like I did.
The ppt slides would be up soon... Hopefully... See you guys soon! :D
